Decorating...
House Pictures...

This week, I finally began decorating our house (see pictures above)!
This is sad considering we have lived here nearly five months! It was just something I was dreading...not sure why. Since I really got started, I have enjoyed it.
So far, we've mainly started the living room and dining room...they still have much work to be done, but it is much better than the bare walls we have been used to. Next, I will tackle the kitchen/breakfast room (fairly simple). Then the laundry room/guest bathroom (shouldn't be hard). Then our bedroom and bathroom (gotta get a plan for that one). Rosalyn's room/playroom/bathroom will have to wait until after we know if/when/for sure that we are having another little one...the final "vision" for those rooms will depend on if we can go all out princess or if it needs to be a little more unisex. Besides, her room is already pink and adorable so it works for now. The guest room is totally on the back burner for now...it is very functional but still has jungle themed wallpaper, gross. What were the previous owners thinking?!?!?
It does help that we painted nearly every room in the house the desired color before moving in and every room has furniture and is at least minimally decorated. So I wasn't totally starting from scratch, but it sure seemed like it. Jason is already tired of hanging stuff...he swears I am a slavedriver. I really do appreciate all of his hard work...he is the greatest husband and daddy ever.
Anyway, I feel accomplished that I at least have this done. My goal is to be done with the living room, dining room, kitchen, and breakfast area by March 30th. We shall see.
Thursday!
A few pictures from today...
(She hasn't really had a bottle in nearly six months!)
I love Thursdays because we go to Kindermusik! Rosalyn loves it and really does learn a lot. She sings, dances, and plays her instruments (not always in rythm, haha!).
We do, however, have to get up a little earlier than usual to go, which is the only bad part...I really hate waking Rosalyn up and very rarely do. I generally always let her wake up on her own (only exception is if she has slept more than 3 hours at nap) because I believe her body knows its own sleep needs the best. If she is still asleep at 9:30 am then she must need it, kwim? She is usually still asleep on Thursdays when we need to be hurrying to get dressed/fed/out the door so I have to wake her up...I make up for it by letting her sleep in the car on the way home.
Kindermusik was lots of fun. Afterwards, we went to Wal-Mart to look for a curtain rod. R and I ate lunch at Mcdonald's and then went to the Carter's store. I got Rosalyn 5 summer dresses for only $39! Carters is hands down my favorite clothing brand for her. 99% of what I buy comes from there. She slept on the way home. After unpacking our goods, Jason was awake. I put him to work hanging the curtains while I made dinner. We ate dinner, played a while, and then he went to work at 5:30. Rosalyn just went to bed at 8:30, so I am just relaxing a while before going to bed myself. My brother (Jason) is spending the night so he is busy entertaining me with his high school tales and tempting me with his frozen pizza...don't even want to know how many points those are!
Rosalyn will be 18 months tomorrow...crazy! She is growing up so fast :( I weighed/measured her today...she is 26 pounds (72%) and 31 inches (26%). I am buying her all 24 month clothes for spring/summer. She wears size 5 diapers now. I am beginning to consider pottytraining soon...she is showing some signs of readiness. She is talking and on the move all the time now...really a toddler, I suppose, and not a baby anymore. She will always be my baby.

Wedding, Bedtime Routine, Etc.
We have had an uneventful couple of days...
We went to Jason's cousin Shane's wedding yesterday afternoon. Rosalyn was fairly well behaved. We sat in the back just-in-case, but we didn't have to run out of the church with a tantruming toddler, thank goodness! She looked really sweet in her pink ballerina skirt dress and sequined pink slippers, but was more like a bull in a china cabinet in her new outfit. She ripped her headband off, threw the shoes on the floor, pulled off one leg of her tights and raised her skirt over her head...not lady-like at all. She also spit up left over spaghettios from lunch on the front...gross. However, she had a lot of fun eating cake and dancing to the music!
Afterwards, we went out to eat with the Kelly fam which was lots of fun. I had some onion rings from Jax...I had been craving them! I still stayed within my points and have lost nearly 12 lb now!
Today, we went to church and then came home to take long 3 hour naps! Yay for naptime! Rosalyn woke up a little early again today at 7:30 am and consequently was quite a grouchy little girl by the time we got home from church at noon. She is still not feeling great...cough and stuffy nose. She refused to eat her cheese quesadilla and avocado for lunch, so I laid her down for a nap...she went straight to sleep without even a peep! After waking up at 3:30, she was much more pleasant and ready to play. All three of us went for a long walk this afternoon...it was really nice to just walk and talk without all the distractions of home (phone/tv/internet/cleaning/cooking/etc). After our walk, we ate leftovers for dinner and played a while longer before bedtime for Rosalyn. She was still tired because she was more than happy and willing to go to bed tonight at her usual 8:30 bedtime.
Here is Rosalyn's bedtime routine:
*I give any medicine needed and suction nose, clip fingernails, etc. before quiet play...try to do all the unpleasant stuff up front!
*All three of us usually participate in bedtime...if Jason is at work, then my mom is often here for bedtime.
1. Quiet playtime...we go in her playroom and do puzzles, books, music, or just play for about 20 minutes.
2. Milk sippie and snack...usually something like fruit/veggies + cheese/yogurt/pudding + crackers/toast/oatmeal...I try to make it balanced so her tummy stays full all night.
3. Bath/brush & dry hair/brush teeth/lotion/diaper/PJs...all of this takes place in her bathroom.
4. She says night-night to everyone...she tells whoever is in the bathroom with us (Jason or my mom) bye-bye and gives kisses. Then I give her a paci and she lays her head on my shoulder. Only she and I go into her room...the little stinker will not go to bed for anyone else!
5. We walk quickly to her room (I already have it dark, blankets fixed, heater/fan on, heartbeat bear playing, etc). I hold/rock her standing up in front of her bed for about 1 minute while I kiss her, say a prayer, and tell her I love her.
6. Bedtime...When she starts reaching for the crib, I lay her in her bed and cover her up with her two favorite blankets and snuggle her bunny beside her. She is usually asleep with no tears before I even get out of her bedroom.
This is the same basic bedtime routine we have used since she was a newborn...I would have to say it has worked well for us! I am firm believer in developing healthy sleep habits from early on, but in a gentle, loving, child-focused, and emotionally healthy way.
She usually sleeps 12 hours/night (8:30-8:30) + one 2 hour/nap...so 14 hours/day total. And believe me, she does not function well without it (like mother, like daughter!).

The bedtime routine has to be the exact same every night...she knows if something is different and she does not like it! She refuses to go to bed for anyone but yours truly, so she stays up an extra hour on the evenings I have to work. She is otherwise a very flexible baby/toddler, so this surprises me. Our pediatrician and all my books tell me that a strong preference for routines/primary caregiver is normal and expected with toddlers, so I don't worry.
Just in case you ever wondered what happens at our house between about 7:30 and 8:30 each evening, now you know! Jason and I are hesitant when we talk about possibly having another baby...everyone says we can't possibly get such a good sleeper two times in a row, so I am afraid of what might happen if we push our luck.
On a side note, please pray Rosalyn's cold/allergies/whatever it is will get better. I think she has pretty much had a runny nose + cough since October and it is driving us crazy. I was awake last night from 1 am-2 am listening to her cough and praying it would stop! I am medicating her at night to help her sleep which helps, but you can tell she doesn't feel great sometimes. At her 18 month appointment, I plan to ask our doctor if she thinks this is just normal toddler cold stuff or if she is possibly having some allergy issue that needs to be addressed.

Today...
Not much interesting to write about today!
Rosalyn and I got up a little earlier than usual today at 7:45 am...her decision, not mine! After eating breakfast (oatmeal + bananas + milk), we got dressed and went on a shopping trip to Target and a few other places. I forgot the stroller at home, so Ros got carried everywhere (she didn't mind at all, naturally). I know what you are thinking, I could have let her walk--Only if I really, really wanted to get my exercise in for the day! Forget the cardio (chasing her), I'll just stick to the strength training (carrying her).
Anyway, back to the shopping trip...we found a new dress for each of us. We are going to a wedding tomorrow and that is a good reason to buy a new outfit! We also picked up a few more things we needed from Target, a Vanilla Latte for me, and arrived home just in time for lunch (macaroni and cheese + carrots&peas + pear juice) and a nap.
After nap, we played with Daddy before he left for work and we all ate dinner together (chicken cacciatore w/ mushrooms & tomatoes + rice + green beans + strawberries + tea). We also had some yummy cookies for dessert. Rosalyn must have really liked the menu tonight, because she cleaned her plate!
My mom came over on her way home and visited for a while, then I put Rosalyn to bed. Now, here I sit playing on the internet/reading Southern Living/watching Dateline before going to bed!
I called and scheduled Rosalyn's 18 month well-baby appointment today...it is on March 3rd. I know it sounds silly, but I really look forward to those appointments (aside from the shots). There is something comforting about having another health care professional look at your child and tell you she is perfectly healthy and normal! As a nurse, I am sure I tend to pick up on things and freak out sometimes! LOL! At her 18 month appt, she has to get two shots: DTaP & Hep A #1. Not looking forward to it, but they are necessary! Our usual Tylenol/Motrin around the clock will get us through.
In case you have ever wondered what an 18 month old's day looked like, here is our usual daily routine:
Morning~
8:30 am Wake Up/Diaper Change/Get Dressed/8 oz Milk/Snuggle
9:00 am Breakfast
9:30 am Reading Video/Noggin (not every day...30 minutes max)
10:00 am Diaper Change/Free Play/Outside Play/Errands/etc. until 12:30
Afternoon~
12:30 pm Diaper Change/8 oz Juice Water (2 parts water + 1 part juice)/Lunch
1:00 pm Two Hour Nap
3:00 pm Wake Up/Diaper Change/8 oz Milk/Snuggle
3:30 pm Reading Video/Noggin (not every day...30 minutes max)
4:00 pm Free Play/Outside Play/Errands/etc. until 5:30
Evening~
5:30 pm Diaper Change/8 oz Juice Water/Dinner
6:30 pm Quiet Play (no TV, nothing too loud and crazy!) until 7:30
7:30 pm Snack/8 oz Milk
8:00 pm Bath/Brush Teeth & Hair/Lotion/PJs
8:30 pm Bedtime!
All the times are approximate and can easily vary 30 minutes either way. Also, she does not watch an hour of TV/day...those are just the times we usually watch, if we even turn it on. It seems like a lot to keep up with now that I've typed it all out, but this is just the way our day flows. I think life is so much easier with a toddler when you have routines in place...she knows exactly what to expect which I think cuts down on tantrums, fussiness, etc. She is also a great eater and sleeper 99% of the time. Rosalyn has always been a "routine" baby...she has put herself on a schedule since she was really tiny. We never did any "baby training" (BabyWise, Sleep Whisperer, etc.) with her...I am not a big fan of that philosophy. I just follow her cues and go from there! I know some people probably think Jason and I work our world around her (and we pretty much do), but I think it works better that way for us now...she is only going to be a baby for a short time and I am sure she will be more flexible with her routines as she gets older. We are ok with doing what is best for her now. Besides, there is nowhere else we would rather be than with our baby girl.
I will try to post again tomorrow, but it will be a busy day.

Tired!
I am so tired today! We are fighting off colds, so maybe that is it. I have been keeping me and Ros medicated as needed and I also had a short nap this afternoon which helped tremendously.
Since my last post on Valentine's Day, this is a quick summary of what we've been up to:
Sunday: church, lunch at church, and an afternoon visit with Jason's grandparents
Monday: I worked all day, Jason & Rosalyn played at home, Jason's mom visited in the afternoon, and my parents also came by for a visit when I got home from work at 7
Tuesday: Jason worked most of the day, Rosalyn & I played at home, I went to my Esther Bible study at Church
Wednesday: I worked all day, Jason & Rosalyn played at home until he went to work at 5 and Nana took over, Rosalyn & Nana went to Chik-fil-a, I got home at 8, My mom spent the night with us
Thursday (Today): Kindermusik this morning, a quick stop at the grocery store, then home to play and eat dinner with daddy before he went to work at 5. Now Rosalyn is watching her reading video and I am playing on the computer!
In case you were wondering, the "biter" was not at KM this week. I was interested to see if Rosalyn would remember her. I wish I had a video of Rosalyn at music...she is such a little clown! It is funny to see her "performing."
Our supper was yummy tonight....
Southwestern Breakfast Casserole, Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins, and Spiced Pears! Only 8 points for the entire plate, which made it even better! Since I started Weight Watchers 7 weeks ago, I've lost nearly 11 pounds! I officially weigh less than when I became pregnant with Rosalyn! It has been much easier to stick with it this time, not sure why.
I am thrilled that I am off work til next Wednesday! Not that I don't enjoy my nursing job a ton, I just would rather stay home with my sweet girl....she is my most important and cherished "job." By the way, she has learned to give real smacking kisses and it melts our hearts (which she has picked up on...she immediately gives us kisses when we catch her being naughty!).

Happy Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day....
These were just taken this morning...
1st Corinthians 13 is one of my favorite Biblical passages about love...
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Yesterday was a nice day, I suppose. Ros and I went to church. After church, lunch, and naptime we all three made the short drive to Liberty to Jason's grandparent's house. We had dinner there and it was quite yummy...grilled shrimp, grilled veggies, baked potatoes, and banana pudding. Aunt Marilyn and Brooke ate dinner with us also. We also got to see Jason's dad and his wife, Mark and Barbie, along with their baby boy, Brannon. He is three months old and sweet as can be. He was feverish and sick last night and you could tell just from looking at him that he really didn't feel good, but he still would smile when someone was talking to him. He is such a precious little sweetheart boy :)
Today, Jason has been working on the fence all day with his friend Wes from work. They are nearly finished. I made them a big pot roast & veggies to eat for lunch. It was a 3 lb roast and they ate nearly all of it! I also made them some banana pudding for dessert. I am determined not to eat of the yummy pudding because I would hate to see my WW points after that!
The highlight of my day today was seeing my best friend, Lisa! We had a two hour lunch together and got to catch up on everything going on in our lives. We haven't seen each other in person for a few weeks and I missed her! We decided we are now going to have a standing every-other-Monday breakfast or lunch date. We are both so busy with our crazy schedules and obligations that it is sometimes hard to get together routinely. It doesn't help that we now live nearly an hour apart. We've been friends for ten years and she is one of the few people in the world that I feel like I can be totally transparent with. In case you didn't know, Rosalyn is named partially after her. R's middle name is Elisabeth. So anyway, that was my favorite part of the day!
No plans for tonight, just relaxing at the casa.
Tomorrow, I need to go grocery shopping. I am also going to a new ladies Beth Moore Bible study at church about Esther tomorrow night.

Today was a fun day!
Our friends Nate and Tami (http://www.nateandtami.com/) had a baby shower at 11 that I attended. Please add their little one, Cayden, to your prayers. He was on born on New Year's Eve at 31 weeks weighing 1 lb and 5 oz and measured 12.5 inches. Thankfully, he seems to be improving a bit each day. He now weighs in at over 3 lb and he is such a little cutie! I know his sweet parents will appreciate any prayers said on behalf of them and their precious baby boy. The shower was fun, food was yummy, and it was so nice to see Tami open all of her great presents. I am so happy for them and I hope that baby Cayden is home soon using all of his new stuff and keeping his mommy and daddy up all night!
I got home later in the afternoon and Jason, Rosalyn, and I played outside for a long time. She enjoyed swinging in her new tree swing. I think she stayed in it for close to an hour! It was so enjoyable just to chill out at home with my sweet little family.
We ate supper later on and shockingly enough Rosalyn ate nearly two scrambled eggs! I guess they are off her "hated foods" list. Ahh, toddler pickiness! She also had cinnamon pears, wheat toast drizzled with honey, and milk. It was a fend for yourself supper tonight and Ros got breakfast for supper! She didn't seem to mind.
My parents and Uncle "Jash" stopped by for a quick visit on their way home from a soccer tournemant. We enjoyed seeing them...Rosalyn was thrilled to have the company as usual!
I am about to go to bed...the other members of this family are already snoozing away!
